Which of the following statements is CORRECT?
Statement-1 :Mathematics textbook for Class VII has 320 pages. The chapter ‘Symmetry’ runs from page 261 to page 272. The ratio of the number of pages of this chapter to the total number of pages of the book is 3 : 81
Statement-2 :In a school of 100 students, only 2 out of 5 students can participate in a quiz. The percentage of students that participate in the quiz is 40%.

A Only Statement-1
B Only Statement-2
C Both Statement-1 and Statement-2
D Neither Statement-1 nor Statement-2

12:320=3:80 in its simplest form. It is not equal to 3:81. You may simplify it like 12/320 divide both numerator and denominator by 4. You will surely get the answer as 3:80.

I have confusion in statement 1 but 2nd statement are correct. 1st statement in first no of pages in symmetry chapter is 12. total no pages is 320. the ratio is 12:320 =3:81 = 1 :27 2nd statement 2 out of 5 can participate means 40% of the student the 40% of 100 is 40 the percentage of students that participate in the quiz = 40/100*100 40%

The answer should be D not A. In the first line they have used BODMAS, but in the second they have not and if we use BODMAS we will get option d.
