About IMO (International Maths Olympiad)

The International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) is a MATHs competition for students of class 1 to class 12. It is conducted by Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) with the aim of identifying and nurturing future scientists, technologists and IT talent at school level.

Participants of IMO are ranked on the basis of marks obtained in 1st Level. After taking the first level of the test, students can judge themselves academically at four different levels - within the school, at city level, at state level and above all at International level.

Ranking and eligibility criteria :

Students fulfilling either of the following 3 criteria will qualify for 2nd level Olympiads exams:

(a) Top 5% of students class wise, who appear for the 1st level exam,
(b) State wise top 25 rank holders class wise, and
(c) Class topper from each participating school where at least 10 students from a class appear in the exam & scores 50% qualifying marks.


Students from classes 1 and 2 are not required to appear for the 2nd level exam and are ranked based on their performance in the first level exam.

2nd level exam will be held for English, Science & Mathematics Olympiads (IEO, NSO & IMO) for students from class 3 onwards. In case two or more students score same total marks, ranks will be awarded to student scoring higher marks in sections accorded higher priority, as under.
