Two containers X and Y, of the same size and thickness, contained 1000 mL and 600 mL of water, respectively. Both were heated over two separate flames till the water in them boiled.
If the water used in both containers took 10 minutes to reach boiling point, what conclusions can be made?
1. The flame used for container X is stronger than that used for container Y.
2. Container X is better conductor of heat than container Y.
3. The water in container X was colder than that in container Y at the beginning of the experiment.

A 1 only
B 2 only
C 1 and 2 only
D 1, 2 and 3

Avinash grouped plants on the basis of their habitats. By mistake, he placed one wrong plant in each group. Identify the odd member of each group and select the correct option.
Group I : Duckweed, Hydrilla, Opuntia
Group II : Banyan, Mango, Acacia
Group III : Barrel cactus, Joshua tree, Vallisneria

A Duckweed in group I is incorrectly placed and should be replaced with arrowhead plant.
B Mango in group II should be interchanged with Joshua tree in group III.
C Opuntia in group I should be interchanged with Vallisneria in group III.
D Banyan in group II is incorrectly placed and should be replaced with gulmohar.

Please explain it. I am also confused about the answer. I myself did B.

Ans 2:

Class : Class 8
answer should be B

Ans 3:

Class : Class 3
Option D is correct because current prefers the path that offers less resistance. The bulb provides resistance whereas the switch when closed does not. Hence correct answer is D

Ans 4:

Class : Class 8
It must be B.The current finds a more direct path to Y, Making it brighter. But the current still reaches X because there is still a path. SOF Says otherwise.

Ans 5:

Class : Class 9
Yess,my answer was B also

Ans 6:

Class : Class 8
The answer key says that X will not light up,but why?

Ans 7:

Class : Class 7
I too am confused as current will also flow through both the bulbs when circuit is closed. It will pass through the switch first and hence lighting up bulb Y.

Ans 8:

Class : Class 8
logically it should be B but sof says otherwise. why ????

Ans 9:

The answer is B

answer should be b because X will also lit up

Ans 16:

Class : Class 6
bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb is correct as current will flow though X but I do feel that current will prefer less resistant path so D can also be correct

Ans 17:

Class : Class 6
The answer should be B as it will be closed circuit

Ans 18:

Class : Class 8
X will light up... I think it's incorrect....
