A Big, White Hen
There was once a big, white hen that had ten little chickens. They were very small, and the old hen took good care of them. She found food for them in the daytime and at night kept them under her wings.
One day, this old hen took her chickens down to a small brook. She thought some fresh air and the water would do them good. When they got to the brook, they walked on the bank a little while. It was very pretty on the other side of the brook, and the old hen thought she would take her children over there.
There was a large stone in the brook; she thought it would be easy for them to jump to that stone and from it to the other side. So she jumped to the stone and told the children to come after her. For the first time, she found that they would not obey her.
She flapped her wings, and shouted, “Come here, all of you! Jump upon this stone as I did. We can then jump to the other side. Come now!”
“O Mother ! We can’t, we can’t!” said all the little chickens.
“Yes, you can if you try,” said the old hen. “Just flap your wings as I did, and you can jump over.”
“I am flapping my wings,” said Chiku, who stood by himself, “but I can’t jump any better than I could before.”

How was the weather near the brook?

AIt was very pretty.
BThere was fresh air.
CIt was fine day.
DIt was cold.

Read the passage and answer the question that follow.

Once there was a young boy named Joey, who had problem controlling his temper. When he became angry, he would just say anything that came to his mind and hurt people. So, his father gave him a bag of nails and a hammer and said, “Every time you get angry, hammer one nail into the wall in our backyard.”

The first few days Joey hammered so many nails that he emptied half the bag. Over the weeks, the number of nails he hammered into the wall reduced and gradually, his temper was much in control. Then came a day when he didn’t lose his temper at all. His father asked him to remove one nail each day because he managed not to lose his temper.

Finally, on the day when Joey was removing the last nail, his father said, “You have done well, Joey. But do you see the holes in the wall? The wall is never going to be the same, even after repainting. Likewise, when you say mean things in anger, you will leave a scar in the person’s heart as the nails did to the wall.”

The word ‘scar’ in the passage means ___________.

Ahelp
Bcure
Cmark
Dperfect
