It should be an intransitive sentence. A sentence can't have both transitive and intransitive verbs. If we ask-''was crying what?' we don't get an answer. If we ask ''was crying whom?'' we don't get the answer either. So its an Intransitive sentence.

Ans 4:

Ans 6:

Class : Class 4
Yes, I did not understand either.

Ans 7:

Class : Class 5
It will be intransitive.

Ans 8:

Class : Class 5
This verb is intransitive. In a single use in a sentence a verb cannot be both transitive and intransitive.

Ans 9:

Class : Class 5
Sheenu was crying all day; Mom had given the cookie to her sister, Shuchi. In this sentence verb is 'was crying' so, if we see in this case it is an intransitive verb because it doesn't have a direct object. To find follow this formula : SUBJECT + VERB + WHO / WHAT if you get ans. means there is a direct object. If not then there is no direct object. So here Sheenu+ crying + who / what = no ans. so there is no direct object hence it is an intransitive verb. BUT if we use was crying like this: Sheenu was crying for cookie. In this case if we take the formula : Sheenu + crying + what = cookie So, in the first case we are not getting the ans. means it does not have a direct object . Hence, 'was crying ' in first case is intrasitive but in second case we are getting the ans. means it does have a direct object and hence, in second case 'was crying' is transitive. So, Simply 'WAS CRYING' can be both transitive & intransitive.
