DATA HANDLING - ESSENTIAL POINTS


  • Data is a set of collection of numbers or values or information about a particular system.
  • There are three types of data: Raw Data, Primary Data and Secondary Data.
  • Each entry in a given data is called an Observation.
  • The number of times a particular observation occurs in the given set of data, is called its Frequency.
  • Data can be represented in the form of tables, pictures or graphs/charts.
  • A tally mark is the symbolic representation of occurrence of an observation in a table.
  • Pictograph is a way of representing data by using figures or pictures.
  • A bar graph is a representation of data using bars (rectangles) erected horizontally or vertically of
    uniform width with equal spacing between them. Length of each bar gives the required information.
