ICSO 2026 Preparation: Most Important Topics to Focus On
Preparing for the SOF ICSO Olympiad becomes easier when children know where to focus their practice.
We analysed ICSO Previous Year Papers for Classes 3 and 4 from 2024 and 2025. While students should prepare the complete syllabus, some topics have appeared regularly and deserve extra attention.
1. MS Word & MS Paint
One of the most frequently tested areas. Focus on editing and formatting, shortcut keys, selecting text, Paint tools, Save/Save As, Rotate, Flip and other practical operations.
2. Computer Hardware, CPU & Memory
Prepare input and output devices, storage devices, CPU, ALU, CU, RAM and ROM. Students should be able to identify devices from both pictures and their functions.
3. Internet & Computer Networks
Important concepts include Internet, WWW, browsers, URLs, hyperlinks, modem, ISP, LAN/WAN/MAN/PAN, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and private or incognito browsing.
4. Windows & Operating Systems
Focus on the Desktop, Taskbar, Start Menu, File Explorer, icons, files and folders, and basic Windows operations.
5. Information Technology & Everyday Apps
Students should understand technology used around them, including navigation, online classes, e-commerce, QR codes, smartphones, biometric devices, social networking and virtual assistants.
6. Logical Reasoning
Do not ignore Logical Reasoning. Patterns, mirror images, odd-one-out, combinations, number patterns and visual reasoning appear regularly in the papers.
