Dear Tony,
Thank you ___()___ your letter. You wanted to know about the last prize giving ceremony of our school. Today I am giving you a short ___()___ about it. It was held last Monday in our school compound. We decorated our school building very beautifully. The chief guest ___()___ just a few minutes before the starting of the programme. He was given a warm welcome. The function began at 10 a.m. with the recital of our school prayer. After reading out the report the principal called each recipient by name ___()___ the chief guest gave away the prizes. Read the passage and answer the questions that follow.
Fiona walked across the kitchen to the far end where she saw a door leading to the backyard of the house. When she tried to open the door to the back she struggled because it was locked. She thought that this was strange because it had never been locked before and she had no idea where the key was. There was music playing in the background and she noticed that it was her father's favourite song about a cowboy or something; it wasn't a tune that she particularly favoured.
She chose to go and find her mother who she thought might be at the front of the house on the veranda with her uncle and aunty. It turned out that her mother was with them and that she had left the key on the table in the kitchen. Fiona went back and checked but couldn't find it. She looked around and eventually found it on the sideboard next to the fruit bowl.
When Fiona eventually got outside into the back garden it had started to rain lightly and it made the garden look like a movie set. She set up her table and got her tea and book and sat down to relax. As she did she heard a loud banging noise coming from over the wall. This was not good, and it was really vexing her and ruining her quiet time. Fiona decided to text her neighbour who was in the same year as her at school. She asked what all the noise was about and how long it would last. There was no reply to her text, so she packed up and went inside again.

READ THE PASSAGE AND ANSWER THE QUESTIONS THAT FOLLOW.
Long ago, people happily lived under the rule of a king. The people of the kingdom were very happy as they had a very prosperous life with a lot of wealth and no misfortunes. The king decided to visit historical places and pilgrimages at distant places. He decided to travel by foot to interact with his people and accompany them. People of distant places were glad to have a conversation with their king and they were proud that their king was so kind with a good heart! After several weeks, he returned to the palace. He was quite happy that he visited many pilgrimages and could see his fellow people leading a happy life. But he had a regret. He had an intolerable pain in his feet as it was his first trip by foot for a long distance. He complained to his ministers that the roads weren’t comfortable and were very rocky. He said he was very much worried about the people who used to walk along those roads as it would be painful for them too! The King ordered his men to cover the road of the whole country with leather so that people might feel comfortable. The king thought that he had to do this for the betterment and happiness of the people. His ministers were stunned to hear his order as it would destroy the life of thousands of animals to get the sufficient quantity of leather and it would cost a lot of money also. A wise man from the ministry came to the king and said that he had another idea. The king asked - what was his alternative idea? The minister said, ‘Why do you want to kill the animals to cover the road with leather? Rather, you can just have a piece of leather cut in appropriate shape to cover your feet. The king was very much surprised by his suggestion and praised the wise minister. He ordered for a pair of leather shoes for him and requested the countrymen to wear shoes.
