Read the passage and answer the questions that follow.
Travelling was always something Peter had wanted to do and as he got older he began to plan. He decided that he must leave his home in Asia to get a good sense of the world. He thought that he should probably try and visit each continent. He sat down in front of his laptop and listed the continents: Oceania, Asia, Europe, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica. Some of the continents he knew, but he was shocked to see that the closest continent he could visit was Africa. He had thought that it was a long way away.
It looked like planning this would be fun. When he looked at different maps of the world it turned out that there were different quantities and names of the continents which confused him a lot. Before he continued he asked his father's advice about how many continents there were. His father told him that for them, in their schools, they were taught that there were 7 continents. And although some other countries taught that there were 6 or 5, and that he should stick to what he understood for this project of his.
For the purpose of travel, Peter decided that he would use the system he knew, and this meant he would have to visit 6 more continents. He looked at the maps of the world and decided that he could go and visit his uncle in Africa and then his sister and her family in Europe really easily. He took this idea to his father who agreed with him although he thought it would be simpler to go east to Oceania. Peter knew that this was just because Oceania was where his father had always wanted to go because his brother lived there.

Peter's father thought it would be _______ to visit somewhere other than Africa.

Aeasier
Bmore fun
Cquicker
Dmore difficult

THE RED PLANET
Do you know there are many planets in our solar system and one of them is referred as 'the red planet'? This fourth planet from the sun, which is reddish in colour, is Mars. Mars gets its reddish colour from the high amount of iron oxide on its surface.
Mars is also home to Olympus Mons, the highest discovered mountain in the solar system. With its peak at 88,600 feet, Olympus Mons is about three times as high as Mount Everest, which is 29,029 feet, the highest peak on Earth. Mars' Valles Marineris is the solar system's largest canyon, measuring more than seven miles deep.
Of all the planets, temperatures on Mars are most similar to those on Earth. Unlike Earth, however, the thin atmosphere gives rise to fearsome dust storms that may envelop the entire planet and cause overall temperatures to rise. Mars has an extremely thin atmosphere.
95% of it is carbon dioxide, 3% is nitrogen, 1.6% is argon, and the remainder consists of traces of oxygen and water. Mars has two moons, Phobos and Deimos. Interestingly, Phobos orbits Mars at a distance of only about 5,500 miles from its center, the closest any moon orbits its parent planet. Because Phobos has a particularly low orbit, scientists believe it will eventually crash into Mars or break up into pieces, possibly forming rings around the planet like Saturn.
There has long been speculation concerning the possibility of life and of liquid water on Mars. Some evidence on the planet's surface suggests the presence of liquid water at some point in history, but scientists think this water would be too salty or acidic to support life. There is compelling evidence, however, that Mars was once much more habitable to life than it is today.
Many spacecraft have attempted to visit Mars, the most notable of which was NASA's Mariner 4, the first to visit in a fly-by in 1965. In 1976, Viking 1 and 2 became the first spacecrafts to conduct successful and sustained landings on Mars. They provided the first colour photographs of the "red planet". In May of 2008, the NASA Phoenix lander touched down on the north polar region of Mars to study surface features.

Scientists believe ______will eventually crash into Mars.

APhobos
BDeimos
CSaturn
Dnone of these

Read the passage and answer the questions that follow.
Every winter, hundreds of humpback whales migrate long distances from their high latitude feeding grounds in the Arctic and Antarctic to warmer tropical regions to breed and give birth. The newborn calves, which drink over 52 gallons of milk every day, have only a few months to gain the body fat needed to keep swimming back to cooler waters in summer. How the babies signal hunger and avoid predators during these early months has always been a mystery to scientists.
"We know next to nothing about the early life stages of whales in the wild, but they are important for the calves' survival during the long migration to their feeding grounds," says study lead author Simone Videsen of the University of Aarhus, Denmark. "These early life stages of wild whales are so confusing because they're an aquatic animal. We can't follow them around all the time to see what they're doing."
Studies revealed that instead of crying loudly like their human counterparts, humpback calves signal their hunger by gently nudging their mothers or uttering soft grunts and squeaks. The moms answer the requests by responding with quiet calls.
The team believes these quiet conversations help whale mother keep track of their young in murky waters without being overheard by dangerous threats. According to Videsen, "Potential predators, such as killer whales could listen to their conversations and use that as a clue to locate the calf and attack on it."
The scientists think that the low audible conversation also keeps mate-seeking males at bay, allowing the females to focus on nurturing the newborns before the tough, 5,000-mile journey back to the feeding grounds in the Antarctic.
How are the quiet calls helpful to the whales? The quiet calls help mother whales to ___________________.

Akeep track of their calves, and keep dangerous threats and mate-seeking males away
Battract male whales who are seeking mates
Ckeep the humpback whales entertained
