(7268 – 2427) estimated to the nearest hundred is

A 4800
B 4900
C 4841
D 5000


As per the NCERT text book, first the number should be rounded off to hundred and then subtraction should be done. so it is 7300-2400=4900.

WHAT IS THE USE OF ESTIMATING IF WE ARE DOING THE NORMAL SUBTRACTION. THE ANSWER SHOULD BE 4900 AS THE NUMBER 7268 ESTIMATED TO THE NEAREST IS 7300 AND THEE NUMBER 2427 ESTIMATED TO THE NEAREST HUNDRED IS 2400. 7300-2400=4900

first we will do subtraction of 7268 and 2427 that is 4841 then we will estimate 4841 by nearest 100 which is 4800 and the anser is this first i have also done it according to NCERT but when result came then it was this solution

guys don't fight people just misunderstood the question also me I got it wrong i put 4800 as i did estimate first then subtract i guess all of us will learn from our mistakes

What is the point in estimating if we are anyway doing the actual subtraction? It makes sense if we round off the numbers 7268 and 2427 to the nearest hundred and then subtract, but that gives 7300-2400 viz.4900
