The earth is tilted on its axis and the equator divides the earth into northern hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere. So, if we just imagine to remove the planet and just leave the axis and equator, we will get an X. To visualise take a piece of paper and rool it into a ball and draw a in the middle. Then tilt it a bit and you will get a model of the earth. Then it forms a X. So the answer is D.
