Read the following passages and answer the question that follow:
An aging carpenter decided that it was time to retire. He informed his employer of his intention to leave the construction industry and enjoy a more relaxed life with his family. While he would miss the steady income, he felt it was necessary to step away. The employer, saddened by the departure of such a valuable worker, requested a final favour: to build one last house. The carpenter agreed, but it soon became clear that his heart wasn’t in it. He cut corners, opting for subpar materials and careless craftsmanship. It was a disappointing way to conclude his career.
Upon completion, the employer presented the carpenter with the keys to the house, saying, “This is your home, a gift from me.” What a revelation! What a regret! Had he known he was constructing his own home, he would have approached it with far more care. Now, he faced the reality of living in a poorly constructed house. This mirrors our own lives; we build them day by day, often without giving our best effort. Then, we are taken aback when we realize we must inhabit the life we’ve created. If given the chance, many would choose to do things differently. However, the past cannot be changed. You are the architect of your life, and each day you make choices that shape your future. It is advisable to remember that our actions speak louder. The future depends on what we do and how we do today. As someone wisely said, your mindset and decisions today lay the foundation for the “home” you will inhabit tomorrow. So, choose wisely and build with intention!
