Two substances, P and Q, were used to fill a syringe. The plunger was then pushed in and the observation is shown in the diagram. Which of the following would most likely be P and Q?

AP-Oil, Q-Salt
BP-Rice, Q-Oxygen
CP-Nitrogen, Q-Oil
DP-Flour, Q-Water vapour

if P is Nitrogen which is lighter than Q which is Oil will also give the same formation as gas will always remain above a liquid under the given circumstances. Hence, in my view, option 'C' is also correct.

Picture is not clarifying whether plunger has moved or not. Even though there are 2 pictures but mentioning before and after below the picture could have supported in a better way to give the correct answer.
