Rectangle ACEG below is divided into 4 parts. BCDX is square. What is the area of the shaded part?


A28 sq. cm
B32 sq. cm
C48 sq. cm
D64 sq. cm


I didn't understand this question while I was solving the test.

The correct answer is 32 because if you see carefully,the length of the rectangle is (8 2)=10 and the length is(2 4)=6.The formula of area of rectangle is 2(l b).So the area of the rectangle is 60 sq.cm.The area of the unshaded part is 16 sq.cm 8 sq.cm 4 sq.cm=28 cm.The area of rectangle 60 sq.cm-28 sq.cm=32 sq.cm.Thank You
