A motorcycle and a car are moving on a horizontal road with the same velocity.
If they are brought to rest by the application of brakes, which provided equal retardation, then

A Motorcycle will stop at shorter distance
B Car will stop at a shorter distance
C Both will stop at the same distance
D Nothing can be predicted.

But since car has more inertia, option A should be correct

Even if the force of retardation is equal by the applied brakes the car still has two more wheels which means it has more friction acting on it and thus it will stop in a shorter distance

As car have greater mass it would take more distance to stop. Why is it showing option C as the correct answer??

@ankit ghosh, it is given that their retardation is equal and the formulaOf distance depends upon acceleration/retardation therefore they will cover same distance even if they have different masses
