READ THE PASSAGE AND ANSWER THE QUESTION THAT FOLLOW.
A little boy named John, once sat next to his mother in their cosy home. He was thinking of all the beautiful things around him and he turned around and told his mother that she had the kindest and prettiest face in the world and he could look at it forever. As he uttered these words, he saw her hands. They were twisted, out of shape and badly deformed. After seeing her hands carefully he told his mother that she must be having the ugliest hands and he cannot bear to look at them.
Hearing this, Johns father took him on his knees and said that he would like to tell him a little story. The father spoke about a baby who was sleeping in the cradle when the cradle caught fire. John got curious and wanted to know about the well-being of the baby. The father seeing little Johns inquisitiveness continued. Seeing the fire, the nurse who was supposed to take care of the infant got scared and ran away. Noticing the leaping flames, the young ones mother rushed to save the baby and she found it impossible to lift the baby through the surrounding flames, without hurting him. So she tried to extinguish the fire with her own hands. The baby was rescued but the mothers hands got burnt badly. It took months before they could heal. Even then, they were left badly scarred.
On hearing the whole incident the boy thought the mother to be very brave. Smilingly, the father asked if the boy would like to know who the mother was. The boy knew the answer to that and he hugged his mother and told her that hers were the prettiest pair of hands in the world.
