Double past tense can't be used in a sentence. For eg. the sentence,"The coach insisted that Ronaldo played the centre position." is grammatically incorrect, since there can't be two past participles in a sentence. Hence, the answer should be Option A, play. SOF, kindly note it and rectify this error.

I was initially confused with plays but play made more sense.. However the answer given is wrong grammatically. The answer must be verified by SOF and changed if wrong. (which it is)
