A carpenter took 3 minutes to saw a wooden plank into 4 pieces. How long will he take to saw it into 15 pieces?

please explain how 14 is the answer

to make 4 pcs it makes 3 cut in 3 min,
so to make 15 pcs it makes 14 cut so it woll take 14 min
