THE ANSWER IS 8.I SAY THAT BECAUSE X=24 AND Y=8.SO, THERE ARE 8 FACTORS FOR 24.

As X is a number with sum of digits 6, then we have options, 15,51,24,42,33 as X but we are given that X has a multiple as 48 so X can only be 24 from the given options. So, X is 24 and as X is 3 times of Y so Y is 8(3x8=24). Now we have to tell the number of factors of X i.e. 24 1, 2,3,4,6,8,12,24 Thus the number of factors of 24 is ------>8 Hence the answer is option(D)
