Subject :NSO    Class : Class 6

Manu has three identical roses but of different colours; red, yellow and white. She shines a torch on the three roses in turn and gets a shadow on the wall in each case. Deepak who is observing the shadows formed on the wall can

ADistinguish shadow of red rose only.
BDistinguish shadow of red rose only
CDistinguish shadows of all the three roses.
DNever distinguish the shadows of three roses.

why is it d

All the three roses are opaque and will have the same shadow. Regardless of the colour of the rose, the colour of the shadows will always be something darker than the colour of the wall. Thus, no rose could be distinguished from the other by looking at their shadows. So D is the correct answer.

This is because the colour of the shadow is always black even if the colour of screen orthe colour of the light is different...

Since the colour of the shadow doesn't depend on the colour of the object, you cannot distinguish the roses from each other as the colour of the shadow (black) will remain same for all the roses.
