Amit has a rectangular floor of length 432 cm and breadth 280 cm. He wants to cover it using square tiles of maximum size without cutting, overlapping or leaving gaps between the tiles. What is the area of such square tiles?

A 4 cm2
B 16 cm2
C 64 cm2
D 100 cm2

length 432 cm and breadth 280 cm Square tile has length = HCF (432, 280) = 8 cm Area = 8 × 8 = 64 cm2

Easiest way to answer this is when you divide the product of 432 and 280,the remainder should be 0 and choose the greatest number, which in this case it is 64
