Rahul took a solution of magnesium hydroxide and added excess of lemon juice to it. Which of the following statements are correct about the resulting solution?
1. It turns pink with phenolphthalein indicator.
2. It turns blue litmus red.
3. It is basic in nature.
4. The reaction takes place is neutralisation reaction.

when the resulting solution is neutral why is point 2- It turns blue litmus red,correct ?

niten mohan : initially the reaction is neutral when lemon juice is added to magnesium hydroxide but if we kkep on adding more and more lemon juice one point will come when all the magnesium hydroxide will be neutrialised and the extra lemon juice will result acidic solution at the end. Ex : 25ml Mg(OH)2 35ml citric acid=acidic solution because 10 ml of extra citric acid.
