Displacement is the shortest distance covered by a body.
In a circular path, the distance between the initial point (Here=P) and the final point (Here=Q) will give you the displacement.
Here, Shortest distance between P and Q is PO + OQ = a + a = 2a
Hence, the displacement of the cyclist would be 2a.
